I did made purchase with somebody else's credit card. I find it useful and easy, getting something not found in Singapore from abroad, pretty neat.

But there are some things to do before making such online purchases. First, check if they're a qualified online purchase website like ebay and amazon. Next, check on the number of purchases customers made in the period of time. Websites that scams the credit card won't be a popular site and they sell their products cheaply, even though it's brand new. If they're popular, that means that they're a reliable source and is very trust-worthy. Then, check for tracking of purchases before purchasing the product. Tracking numbers are really useful as it allows you to track your purchase. Lastly, make sure that the item you purchased has a form or a reciept from your account and make sure to ask from the person who's allowing you to use his or her card to purchase such online purchases, especially if they're overseas.

I tried it myself with my father's credit card as it was my birthday and the item came safe and sound as I did all the above steps. You should too before making online purchases!

  1. Just a gentle reminder, some websites actually have their own members create 'bogus' accounts to give themselves good ratings so that unassuming users have the impression that their site is popular and reliable. Hence tracking numbers might not always be an accurate guide
